Tate Brothers Seek Bail in US Amid UK Extradition Case

Lawyers for Andrew and Tristan Tate asked a US judge for bail. This happened in Miami on Thursday.

The brothers are fighting extradition to Britain. They face charges of rape and human trafficking.

The hearing was about bail not the final extradition decision. Lawyer Howard Srebnick said the brothers were not flight risks.

He said they had regularly appeared for court in Romania. Federal prosecutors opposed bail.

They said the brothers had wealth, multiple passports and international connections. Prosecutors said this made them flight risks.

The brothers have been held in a Miami detention center since July 18. No date has been set for an extradition hearing.

Britain must provide evidence before that hearing. The brothers' case in Romania is proceeding first.

Andrew and Tristan Tate are known as social media or "manosphere" influencers. They deny wrongdoing.

Klear Note — Extradition is the legal process of sending someone abroad for trial. Bail allows accused people to await court decisions outside detention, under conditions.
