Tens of Thousands Rally in Spain Over Migrant Crisis
Protests happened Wednesday in Ceuta and other cities across Spain. Tens of thousands joined the rallies.
They were angry about the government's handling of a migrant crisis. About 5,000 migrants remained stranded in Ceuta.
This was weeks after a large group arrived. Roughly 1,200 of them were minors.
Most other migrants had returned home or were sent back. Tensions continued over how Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez handled the situation.
Spanish opposition parties accused Sánchez of abandoning Ceuta's residents. Ceuta has about 84,000 residents.
The migrant influx placed heavy pressure on local resources. This intensified anger among residents.
Klear Note — Ceuta has about 84,000 residents, so arrivals strained local resources.
