Three Nations Propose Middle East Ceasefire

Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey shared a ceasefire proposal. It calls for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, between Iran and Oman.

The proposal has drawn no commitment from Iran so far. Iran said it won't reopen the Strait for a short ceasefire.

Trump set a Tuesday deadline for Iran to reopen it. He warned Iran he would strike key buildings if it refused. United States stock futures rose after news of the proposal.

Klear Note The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman. About one-third of world's oil passes through it daily. Closing it disrupts global energy markets and trade.
