Tourist Plane Crashes Near Nazca Lines in Peru
A small tourist plane crashed in Peru killing 13 people. The crash happened near the Nazca Lines.
The Nazca Lines are ancient drawings carved into the desert in southern Peru. The plane was a Cessna Grand Caravan.
It crashed in Pueblo Viejo about 4 miles from Nazca city. The plane had 11 tourists and 2 pilots aboard.
All 13 people died. The flight had left from Pisco city.
The plane was operated by Peruvian airline Aerodiana. The crash happened around 12:55pm local time.
The plane was heading back when it crashed. The crash site is roughly 12km from the Nazca Lines.
Flights over the Lines had been stopped the day before. Strong winds over 40kph had reduced visibility.
