Trump Approves $2.8 Billion Arms Sale to Israel
President Trump approved a $2.8 billion arms sale to Israel. The deal includes 40,000 one-ton bombs.
These are 20,000 MK-84 bombs and 20,000 BLU-117 bombs. The package also includes I-2000 penetrator warheads.
Leaders shared the deal informally with US congressional committees. The sale would restart deliveries of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel.
The Biden administration had paused these deliveries two years ago. That pause happened due to concerns about civilian deaths in Gaza.
The Washington Post says these bombs caused many civilian casualties before. It called this the largest such sale in years.
The package would rank among the largest US arms sales to Israel. The sale comes as Israel continues its war in Gaza.
That war began after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 2023. A separate $2.04 billion arms sale to Israel happened in 2025. That sale skipped the normal congressional review process.
