Trump Calls for Bombardier Boycott Before Canada Tariffs
Trump called for a US boycott of Bombardier jets. He posted this on social media.
Bombardier is a Canadian aerospace company. Trump said Bombardier cannot sell planes in the US.
This applies unless Bombardier builds planes in the US. Trump also said Canada blocks US banks and other US companies.
The post came hours before new Canadian tariffs. Canada's retaliatory tariffs on US goods start Tuesday.
The tariffs charge up to 50% on $20 billion of goods. Trump also threatened a new round of US tariffs.
This signals rising trade tension between the two countries. In January 2026 Trump made a similar threat.
He threatened to block certification of Bombardier's Global Express jets. He wanted Canada to certify Gulfstream jets instead.
Canada later certified several Gulfstream planes. But Trump's earlier threatened tariffs never took effect.
