Trump Calls Iran Peace Response Garbage
Trump rejected Iran's response to a US peace plan. He called it "totally unacceptable" and "garbage." Trump warned the ceasefire was "on life support" and "unbelievably weak." Iran's reply asked for an end to the war on all fronts.
It also asked the US to lift its naval blockade. Iran also wanted control over the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz is a key sea route. It remains effectively closed to normal shipping.
A tanker crossed it on Saturday for the first time since the war began. But regular shipping has not resumed.
Turkey's foreign minister Hakan Fidan will visit Qatar for talks. The talks will cover the war and efforts to reopen the Strait. Trump is also expected to raise Iran with China's leader Xi Jinping at a summit later this week.
