Trump canceled planned attacks on Iran. He said both sides agreed on the basic parts of a deal.

Iran and other Middle Eastern countries had asked the United States to hold off on military action. Trump said the basic terms of a potential agreement have been settled.

The cancellation followed these requests and progress in talks. The pause depends on the United States and Iran quickly finishing a full deal.

The proposed deal would reopen the Strait of Hormuz right away. It would also end Iran's nuclear threat.

Israel also joined the pause in strikes. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke with Trump about the strike plans.

He expressed concern over them. Other countries in the region also pushed for calm.

These included Qatar, the UAE, Turkey and Pakistan. Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi warned against further hostile action. He said this applies to the United States or Israel.
