President Trump said Iran's leaders lied about peace talks. He claimed talks are happening whether Iran admits it or not.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei questioned Trump's claim. He spoke at a press conference on Monday.

Iran said it is talking with Oman instead. Baghaei said Iran-Oman talks about the Strait of Hormuz have lasted seven to eight days.

He said the talks made some progress. Trump responded by calling Iran's leaders unbelievably dishonest.

He said the US remains in full control of the Strait of Hormuz. He warned Iran's only choices are a deal or total surrender.

Oil prices fell after Trump announced the canceled attack and new talks. The conflict is entering its sixth month. The US and Iran started negotiations in June following a February strike campaign.
