Trump Extends Ceasefire as Iran Rejects It
President Trump extended the US ceasefire with Iran. The move came just hours before fighting was set to restart.
Trump said Pakistan asked for the extension. He said Iran needed more time to form a peace offer.
But peace talks between the two countries had already stalled. Trump said he would keep a blockade on Iran's ports.
The blockade limits how much oil Iran can sell. Iran's foreign minister called the blockade an act of war.
Iran fully rejected the ceasefire extension. A senior Iranian adviser called it meaningless.
That adviser said Iran should respond with military action. Iran also told Pakistan it would not send a team to planned talks.
Reports say Vice President Vance's trip to Pakistan was put off with no new date set. Oil prices fell after Trump's announcement.
Brent crude dropped from over $101 to around $98 per barrel. US crude fell from around $95 to around $88 per barrel.
Klear Note — A ceasefire is a pause in fighting between opposing sides. Blockades are barriers that stop goods from entering or leaving a country, limiting trade and income.
