Trump Lets Ukraine Make Patriot Missiles at NATO Summit

President Trump gave Ukraine a license to make Patriot missile interceptors. This happened at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey on July 8, 2026.

Trump told President Zelensky that Ukraine may manufacture the interceptors at home. Ukraine has struggled to stop Russia's growing missile attacks.

Zelensky had asked for Patriot missiles before the summit. But Trump's promise was vague and loosely worded.

The makers of Patriot missiles had not yet been told about the decision. Setting up a production line could cost at least $1 billion.

It could also take up to 18 months to get running. Experts warn this would not quickly fix Ukraine's shortage of interceptors.

Klear Note Patriot missiles defend against aircraft and incoming attacks. Ukraine needs them to stop Russian missile strikes on cities and military targets.
