Trump Orders Pentagon to Buy Coal Power
Trump ordered the Department of Defense to buy electricity from coal sources. He is trying to bring back coal as an energy source.
Last April Trump said coal was key to United States national and economic security. An executive order gives $175 million to upgrade coal power plants.
These plants are in five states. Coal executives gave Trump a trophy at the White House. They called him the 'Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal.'
Klear Note — Coal power plants produce electricity but create air pollution. Most US power plants now use natural gas or renewables instead of coal.
