Trump Picks Former Oklahoma Trooper to Lead ICE
President Trump has chosen Lance Schroyer to lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Schroyer is a former Oklahoma state trooper and US Marine.
He works as an adviser to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin. He has over 29 years of law enforcement experience in Oklahoma.
He once led a deportation campaign in Oklahoma under an ICE program. David Venturella has been doing the ICE director job for now.
If approved by the Senate Schroyer would oversee 22,000 workers. ICE has not had a Senate-approved director since the Obama years in 2017. His lack of federal agency leadership experience reportedly surprised ICE officials.
Klear Note — ICE enforces immigration laws and deports people. The agency has 22,000 employees. It hasn't had a Senate-approved leader since 2017.
