Trump Plans to Appeal Ruling on White House Access
US judge Timothy Kelly issued a temporary order on October 14. The order keeps CNN, MS NOW and Politico at the White House.
The order stays in place while the lawsuit moves forward. Trump removed the outlets' White House press passes on September 18.
The move came without warning. Judge Kelly first restored access temporarily on September 24.
Trump chose Kelly to be a judge. Trump had earlier criticized Kelly for that temporary pause.
Kelly declined to pause the order while an appeal is pending. CNBC reports that Trump is to appeal the order.
The White House also said it plans to appeal. Kelly found the outlets likely to win.
Their claims are based on the First Amendment and due process. Kelly noted that real national security concerns could still justify government action. The Guardian reported Trump had not yet commented on the ruling.
