Trump Plans to Drop 1.8 Billion Dollar Justice Fund
President Trump is expected to drop a $1.8 billion Justice Department fund. The fund was called the anti-weaponization fund.
It was created as part of a deal with the IRS over Trump's leaked tax returns. Trump and his family dropped a personal lawsuit in exchange for the fund.
But a court then paused the fund before it could start. The Justice Department said it strongly disagrees with that ruling.
Still it said it would follow the court's order. A hearing is set for June 12 to decide if the pause continues.
A Florida judge is also reviewing the fund. The fund faced pushback from both Republicans and Democrats in the Senate.
Senate Democrats led by Schumer said they would force votes to block it. Opposition to the fund stopped Senate work last month. The rare pushback from Republicans alongside Democratic pressure led to Trump's decision.
