Trump Says DC Arch Will Become Military Complex
President Trump announced Sunday a planned arch will become a military site. The arch is being built in his honor in Washington, D.C. Trump said the military strongly requested this change.
He described the 250-foot arch as able to host drones and snipers. The plan includes ammunition storage on the roof and plaza.
It also includes sniper and drone positions there. Trump said the military use was needed for national security.
The arch would stand between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. A federal court is now reviewing whether the plan is legal. This would shift the arch from a monument to a military site.
Klear Note — A triumphal arch is a monument honoring a person or major event. A military complex can include positions for personnel, equipment, and operations.
