Trump Signs Iran Deal and Threatens Military Action
President Trump signed a deal with Iran on June 17. The deal aims to end the conflict and reopen the Hormuz Strait.
It starts a 60-day window to negotiate a final agreement. Iran's nuclear program and missile program are left for future talks.
The deal includes a $300 billion fund to rebuild Iran. Gulf nations would pay for it if Iran follows the rules.
Sanctions on Iran would be lifted in the future. Trump threatened to bomb Iran again if it broke the terms.
But Trump also said at the Group of Seven summit that the deal might not be right to sign. Critics said the deal achieves less than the 2015 nuclear agreement.
Former President Obama noted the new deal closely resembles his 2015 agreement. Trump had previously pulled the US out of that 2015 deal. Oil prices fell slightly after traders reviewed the deal.
