Trump to Decide Soon on Iran Deal
Trump says he will soon make a final decision on an Iran deal. He is meeting with advisers as part of that process.
The US and Iran agreed on a framework for a deal this week. They also agreed to a 60-day ceasefire.
Trump says he plans to lift the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. He also wants free passage for all ships through the strait.
But Iran has not confirmed any commitments. Iran's top leader has not given approval either.
Iran's parliament speaker posted statements showing deep distrust of the process. Iran's state media says the draft text has no free-passage clause.
Sources say Iran wants the immediate release of $12 billion in frozen assets. Iran is reportedly declining further talks unless that payment comes first.
It is not clear which of Trump's demands are already in the framework. Pakistan is acting as a key go-between in the talks. Pakistan's foreign minister met US Secretary of State Rubio today.
