Trump to Meet Oil Executives Over Gas Prices

President Trump plans to meet oil and refining executives on Tuesday. The meeting is set for September 1, 2026.

They will discuss ways to lower gasoline prices. At least 10 refinery operators and fuel distributors are expected to attend.

Companies that may attend include Chevron, Marathon Petroleum, Valero Energy and PBF Energy. The meeting will also cover current market conditions.

They plan to discuss expanding oil refining capacity in the United States. The White House wants quick steps to boost that capacity.

Gas prices and affordability are major concerns before the November midterm elections. Reports link higher gas prices to disruptions from the Iran war.

The White House also blames earlier policies for refinery closures. It says those policies weakened investment in refining.

The planned meeting is part of a wider effort. It aims to address fuel costs during the election period.

Klear Note — Refineries turn crude oil into gasoline and other fuels. Refining capacity means how much fuel plants can make.
