Trump's Former Lawyer Sworn In as US Attorney General
Todd Blanche was sworn in as US attorney general Monday. He is President Trump's former personal lawyer.
The ceremony took place at the Oval Office. Blanche's swearing-in followed his Senate confirmation in a 50-49 vote.
Two Republican senators opposed Blanche during the vote. They worried the Justice Department was becoming too political.
Blanche had served as acting attorney general since April. That was when Trump fired Pam Bondi from the role.
Trump has said he wants the Justice Department to target his political opponents. This is now a challenge Blanche faces as the department's leader.
