Two Rescued After Cargo Ship Sinks Off India
Two people were rescued off India's eastern coast. A Panama-flagged cargo ship called Ocean Winner had sunk.
It sank in the Bay of Bengal. The ship had 24 people on board.
Rescuers are still searching for 22 crew members. The ship sent a distress alert before losing contact.
It had left Paradip Port, India on August 20. It sank about 240 nautical miles off Odisha, India.
The Indian Coast Guard and Navy sent ships to search. A tanker called MT Aisopos rescued the two survivors.
It found them in separate liferafts on August 22. The cause of the sinking is still unknown.
Survivors said the ship tilted and sank fast. It reportedly sank within about eight minutes. The ship was carrying iron ore from India to Singapore.
