An Apache military helicopter crashed in central Texas on Wednesday. It had taken off from Fort Hood during a routine training flight.

Both soldiers on board were killed. The crash happened in Salado, Texas.

The helicopter caught fire after it went down. That fire sparked a wildfire nearby.

Several homes had to be evacuated. The aircraft did not hit any homes or buildings.

Cliff Coleman is a spokesperson for the Bell County Sheriff's Office. He confirmed both occupants had died.

No cause has been announced yet. Fort Hood's criminal investigation division is leading the crash investigation.
