UK Acts After Jewish Men Stabbed in London
Two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green in London on April 29 2026. Police called it a terrorist attack.
The British government then declared antisemitism an emergency. It announced £25 million for police patrols near synagogues and Jewish schools.
A government terror adviser said antisemitism is a national security emergency. But Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said she does not agree it is a national emergency.
She said it is still an absolute priority. The government also plans new laws to target groups acting for state-backed organisations.
Mahmood said she would consider banning the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Reports say the attack was claimed online by a group with suspected links to Iran. Counter-terrorism police are reportedly also looking into earlier arson attacks on Jewish sites.
