UK Delays Chagos Islands Handover
The UK has delayed approving a deal with Mauritius. The deal would hand over the Chagos Islands.
It was signed in 2024 but has stalled in Parliament. US President Donald Trump criticized the deal.
His criticism caused the UK to pause the approval process. The islands are in the Indian Ocean, between Africa and Asia.
Klear Note — The Chagos Islands are a British territory in the Indian Ocean. Mauritius claims the islands and signed a deal to take control in 2024.
