UK Green Party Leader Seeks Changes to Zionism Motion

Zack Polanski leads the Green Party in England and Wales. He said he wanted to change a motion equating Zionism with racism.

But he would not reverse it. He said the motion would stand until 2028.

A report published today said Polanski disagrees with part of the motion. That part backs a single Palestinian state.

The report said he wants Israelis and Palestinians to decide their future. The report adds that Labour has ruled out coalition deals with the Greens.

This stays true while the motion remains party policy. The Green Party approved the motion two weeks before his BBC interview.

He discussed the motion in that interview on Sunday. The Guardian reported Polanski said Zionism in its current form is racist.

In that interview he said no country has a right to exist. He described the motion as not controversial. He also called "debates about words" unhelpful.
