UK Police Investigate Reform UK Over Overseas Donations
Police are investigating Reform UK over alleged illegal donations. The donations may have come from outside the United Kingdom.
UK election law bans foreign donations to political parties. The investigation began after Channel 4 broadcast the allegations.
Before that, reporters from Verbatim ran an undercover sting. They posed as a foreign donor and the donor's son.
The reporters said they wanted to fund Reform UK. They discussed sending a possible £500,000 donation through the son.
They also discussed paying for opinion polling with foreign money. Police have added this case to a wider investigation.
That wider investigation looks at other Reform UK donations. Police are checking if Reform UK broke election funding rules.
