UK Police Officer Dies After Being Hit by Car
PC Jess Turnbull was a 19-year-old police officer in Northumbria, England. She died on Wednesday 10 June 2026.
On Monday 8 June she was hit by a black Mercedes on a road in Cramlington, England. She had been responding to a separate crash nearby when she was struck.
Turnbull was standing outside her police vehicle at the time. A 73-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
He was suspected of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail. Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine said Turnbull was "dedicated and committed." Turnbull had served as a response officer since September of the previous year.
