Ukraine Drone Strikes Kill Five in Russia

Ukrainian drone strikes killed at least five people across Russia overnight into Sunday. Two people died when a drone hit a home in Engels in Russia's Saratov region.

A separate strike hit a Wildberries warehouse in Novosemeykino in Russia's Samara region. That site is about 800 km from the Ukraine border.

The strike caused a fire but no deaths there. Russia's Defense Ministry said it shot down 635 Ukrainian drones overnight.

The strikes are part of Ukraine's campaign to disrupt Russia's economy. Ukraine has struck over a dozen Wildberries depots in under two weeks.

Wildberries is a large online shopping company in Russia. The campaign targets the company's delivery and storage network.

Reports say the campaign has killed at least nine people in total. Wildberries is reportedly now looking to move some operations to Kazakhstan.

This is due to the repeated strikes. The overnight attacks are the latest in Ukraine's long-range campaign against Russian economic sites.

Klear Note Ukraine and Russia have been at war since 2022. Ukraine uses long-range drones to hit targets deep inside Russia. These strikes aim to weaken Russia's economy and military supply lines.
