Ukraine Fires Over 1,000 Drones at Russia on Election Day

Ukraine fired over 1,000 drones at Russia. Hundreds targeted Moscow on the final day of Russian elections.

Moscow's mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 450 drones were shot down. This happened during the overnight attack.

The attack killed two people. It wounded 20 others across the wider Moscow region.

The dead were a 74-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman. Sobyanin called this the largest ever drone attack on Moscow.

He also reported damage to a Moscow oil refinery. A residential building was also damaged.

Ukraine said it used a new ballistic missile in the attacks. The attacks also targeted other parts of Russia.

The vote was held with little real opposition. Voting also took place in Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories including Crimea.

Russian officials said a Ukrainian strike killed a local election worker. This happened in occupied Kherson.

Klear Note — The drone wave happened as Russia's elections were ending. Ballistic missiles follow high, curved paths after launch, unlike many drones.
