Ukraine Resumes Refinery Strikes After Energy Ceasefire Collapses
Ukraine resumed strikes on Russian oil refineries after an energy ceasefire collapsed. US President Donald Trump abruptly declared the energy ceasefire last week.
The announcement came on October 11. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine was abandoning the ceasefire.
He also said Ukraine would no longer follow Trump's request. Trump had asked Ukraine to stop striking Russian refineries.
Ukraine said Russia kept attacking during the ceasefire. The Associated Press reported Russian strikes on nine Ukrainian regions on Thursday.
Trump called Ukraine's renewed strikes “a disgrace.” Trump also said Zelenskyy was “more difficult to deal with than Putin.” Le Monde linked the dispute to Trump's diesel deal with Russia. It also pointed to pressure on Ukraine to stop hitting refineries.
