Ukraine Strikes Iranian Ships as Tensions Grow

Ukraine struck Iranian ships in the Caspian Sea. Iran says the strike killed one sailor.

Others were hurt on the ship. Iran called it a hostile and criminal act.

Iran called in Ukraine's top diplomat in Tehran to protest. Iran said the strike broke international law.

Iran warned the attack could worsen the Russia-Ukraine war. Ukrainian President Zelensky called the Caspian strikes part of wider long-range attacks.

He said Ukrainian forces also hit a Russian warship. Forces also struck targets inside Russia.

These included an oil refinery and a fuel depot. Zelensky said the Caspian attack was payback for Russian strikes.

He said it was not a separate Middle East attack. Ukraine claims Russia is giving Iran satellite information.

The strike comes amid growing tension across the Middle East. Saudi forces attacked Iran-backed Houthi fighters in Yemen. Houthi fighters attacked Saudi oil sites along the Red Sea coast.
