Ukraine Strikes Saint Petersburg During Putin's Economic Forum

Ukraine struck a navy base and oil terminal near Saint Petersburg, Russia. Drones set the oil terminal on fire.

The navy base is the historic home of Russia's Baltic Fleet. It sits on an island about 30 kilometres west of Saint Petersburg.

The strikes happened as Putin's annual economic forum began in the city. The forum is known as Russia's version of the Davos summit in Switzerland.

Ukraine also struck a weapons plant in Russia's Tambov region in the same operation. Before these strikes Russia had attacked Ukrainian cities.

Those Russian strikes killed at least 22 civilians and wounded 138 more. Ukraine has been increasing long-range strikes as the war continues.
