UN Finds Sudan Killings Show Genocide Signs
A United Nations fact-finding mission investigated el-Fasher in Sudan. An armed group called the Rapid Support Forces captured the city.
Mass killings of non-Arab civilians happened after the capture. The UN found these killings showed signs of genocide.
The armed group had sieged el-Fasher for many months first. Video of the killings spread in October. The UN based its genocide finding on these mass killings.
Klear Note — Genocide means killing a group of people because of their race or ethnicity. The UN investigates serious crimes in conflicts around the world.
