US Backs Iranian Kurdish Military Plans
Iranian Kurdish groups oppose Iran's government. These groups are based on the Iran-Iraq border in Iraqi Kurdistan.
They have recently consulted with the US about attacking Iranian security forces. The groups are preparing for a cross-border military operation in Iran.
Iraq-based groups asked the Trump administration for weapons and training support. They also asked for intelligence help. The US has asked Iraqi Kurds to support Kurdish Iranian dissident groups.
Klear Note — Iranian Kurds are an ethnic group in Iran seeking independence or autonomy. They oppose Iran's central government. Iraqi Kurdistan is a semi-autonomous region where these groups operate safely.
