US Bans Travelers From 3 Countries After Ebola Case

An American doctor tested positive for Ebola in Congo. He is Peter Stafford.

He worked for a Christian mission group called Serge in Bunia, Congo since 2023. Stafford and six others are being moved to Germany for treatment and monitoring.

The group includes his four children and Serge colleagues. Trump said he is concerned about Ebola after the confirmed case.

The US has banned travelers from Congo, Uganda and South Sudan from entering the country. The outbreak involves the Bundibugyo Ebola variant.

There are no approved vaccines or treatments for this variant. The World Health Organization declared the outbreak a global health emergency. Over 100 people have died across two provinces in Congo.
