US Charges Filed Over Baltimore Bridge Collapse

The US Justice Department filed criminal charges over the 2024 Baltimore bridge collapse. The charges were announced on May 12, 2026.

Prosecutors filed 18 charges against two shipping companies and one worker. The companies are Synergy Marine from Singapore and Synergy Maritime from India.

The worker charged is technical superintendent Radhakrishnan Karthik Nair. Charges include conspiracy to defraud the US and misconduct causing death.

Obstruction and environmental violations are also included. The collapse happened when cargo ship MV Dali hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

This was at 1:28 a.m. on March 26, 2024. The ship had lost power twice before hitting the bridge.

The crash caused the bridge to fall. Several vehicles plunged into the river. Six construction workers on the bridge were killed.
