The United States criticized an Israeli settler siege of Palestinian homes. This happened in Qusra near Nablus in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Settlers blocked access to three homes. They cut off water, electricity and essential supplies.

This added to American pressure over the siege. American pressure led Israeli forces to intervene.

Israel's military called the siege illegal and unacceptable. It declared Qusra a closed military zone and dismantled two settler outposts.

It also detained one settler. The military said the families had basic supplies and should stay home.

Settlers resumed the siege after an eviction despite military intervention. The military failed to keep settlers away from two trapped families.

This happened amid a rise in West Bank settler violence. Qusra has seen repeated attacks including a mosque arson in July.
