US Court Backs Missouri Map But Delays It

A US appeals court ruled Monday for a new Missouri voting map. The map would remove one of Missouri's two Democratic seats.

President Trump supports this new map. The court ordered Missouri to use it in November's election.

But the court paused its own order for one week. This means election officials will keep using the old map for now.

The delay lets the Supreme Court review the dispute first. The Supreme Court will make the final decision on the map.

Earlier this year the Supreme Court blocked maps that favor Republicans. So Monday's ruling may have little immediate effect. Missouri's own Supreme Court had ordered use of the 2022 map.

Klear Note — Congressional maps divide states into voting districts for House elections. Midterm elections choose members of Congress between presidential elections.
