US Court Orders Trump to Stop Ballroom Construction
A federal appeals court on Friday ordered President Trump's team to stop building a White House ballroom. The project sits on the site of the White House's demolished East Wing.
It was expected to cost $400 million. The court said below-ground construction can continue.
It also upheld an earlier ruling that blocked the project. Judges said Congress must decide whether the ballroom gets built.
They said a president cannot fully reshape the White House without Congress approving it. The ruling is on hold for 14 days. This gives Trump's team time to appeal to the US Supreme Court.
