US House Issues Subpoenas to Leon Black After Epstein Hearing

Billionaire Leon Black appeared before a US House committee on Friday. Black is a financier linked to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The hearing was held behind closed doors. Black told the committee he had no part in Epstein's crimes.

But he declined to answer questions about non-disclosure agreements. The committee chair then issued two subpoenas to Black during the interview.

One subpoena demands all NDAs Black has signed. The second requires Black to appear for a deposition on July 16.

Black paid Epstein about $158 to $170 million over five years for financial advice. The US Justice Department released millions of Epstein-related files last year and this year.

Those releases led to greater scrutiny of Black's ties to Epstein. This was the 16th closed-door interview in the committee's Epstein investigation.

Klear Note Jeffrey Epstein was a financier convicted of sex crimes. He died in jail in 2019. Recent document releases renewed focus on his associates.
