US House Passes $70 Billion Immigration Funding Bill

The US House approved a $70 billion immigration funding bill on Tuesday. It passed by a narrow 214-212 vote.

The bill is called the Secure America Act. It funds ICE and Border Patrol through the rest of Trump's term.

The bill now goes to Trump to sign into law. Democrats warned that Congress gave up its oversight role by passing the bill.

They wanted agents to wear ID badges during operations. They also wanted warrants required before agents could enter private property.

These demands came after two US citizens were shot by federal agents in Minneapolis. None of those conditions were added to the bill.
