US House Passes Iran War Powers Resolution

The US House voted 215-208 on Wednesday on a war powers resolution. The resolution requires Trump to seek approval from Congress or pull US forces out of Iran.

Four Republicans joined Democrats to pass it. They were Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Tom Barrett of Michigan and Warren Davidson of Ohio.

The resolution had failed three times before. But it passed this week.

Republican leaders had opposed it. They said it would weaken Trump's position in talks with Iran.

The resolution is mostly symbolic. The Senate has not yet held a final vote.

It had already moved a similar resolution forward last month. The resolution would also likely face a veto from Trump.
