US House Passes Russia Sanctions Bill

The US House of Representatives passed a Russia sanctions bill. Lawmakers voted 262-159 to approve it.

The bill goes to Trump and is expected to become law. The bill is named after Senator Lindsey Graham.

It would give Trump new power over tariffs. Trump could raise tariffs on top buyers of Russian energy.

He could also issue new sanctions against Russia's government. The bill could lead to secondary sanctions on India, China and Iran.

It could also impose taxes on countries buying Russian energy. This includes some US allies.

The bill targets Russia's energy and defense sectors. It also targets senior Russian officials and Russia's shadow fleet.

The bill divided Democrats and Republicans. Some lawmakers said it gives Trump too much power.

They warned it could be used against US allies. The Senate passed the bill 86-11 last month.
