US House Returns to Consider Stopgap Funding Bill
The US House returned to Washington, D.C. on Monday. Lawmakers came back after a five-week break.
House leaders want to pass a funding bill this week. It is called a stopgap spending bill.
The Senate already approved the bill by a 90-6 vote. The bill would fund the government through December 11.
This would happen before the midterm elections. Current government funding is guaranteed through September 30, 2026.
The House must approve the bill first. Then it would go to President Trump.
Klear Note — A stopgap bill temporarily keeps government agencies operating after current funding expires. It gives lawmakers more time to approve longer-term spending plans.
