US House Votes to Pull Troops from Iran War

The US House voted 215-208 on Wednesday to pull American troops from the Iran war. Four Republicans broke with their party to help pass the measure.

This was the fourth attempt at such a vote and the first to succeed. Trump called the vote unpatriotic.

He said it got in the way of his talks with Iran. Trump claimed the vote happened during his final talks to end the war.

But he also separately claimed the war with Iran is already over. The two claims appear to contradict each other.

The vote is largely symbolic. The Senate has not yet passed a matching measure. Even if it did Trump would almost certainly reject it.

Klear Note The US has had troops in Iran since the conflict began. Congress votes on military deployments to check presidential power. The Senate must also pass this bill for it to become law.
