A bipartisan housing bill will become law on Saturday. This happens even though President Trump refuses to sign it.

The bill is called the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. Congress passed it with wide support in June.

The vote margins were large enough to override a veto. The Senate voted 85 to 5.

The House voted 358 to 32. Congress gave the bill to Trump on June 29.

That started a 10-day countdown under the constitution. Since Trump has not signed it the bill becomes law automatically.

Trump wants Congress to first pass his SAVE America Act. That bill is officially called the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act.

It is a broad voter ID measure. Trump's refusal cannot stop the housing bill from becoming law.

Reports say the SAVE America Act lacks enough Senate votes. It needs more support to beat a Senate blocking rule called the filibuster.

Trump has reportedly called the housing bill boring. The housing bill aims to lower the cost of homes.

It also tries to limit large investors buying up houses. The law also simplifies environmental reviews for building projects.

It makes it easier for banks and credit unions to offer mortgages. It also expands access to factory built modular homes.
