Four US human-rights groups sued the Trump administration on Tuesday. They challenged sanctions against the International Criminal Court.

The lawsuit was filed in a New York federal court. Human Rights Watch is one of the four groups.

The groups said the ICC sanctions were unlawful. They accused the administration of using a crippling sanctions regime.

They said this undermines global efforts to prosecute war crimes. It also undermines efforts to prosecute crimes against humanity.
