US Job Losses Highest in 17 Years
The United States lost 108,000 jobs in January 2026. This was the worst January since 2009.
The job market is showing signs of weakness. Companies are cutting more jobs than they did before.
Klear Note — 2009 was during the Great Recession, the worst economic crisis since the 1930s. Job cuts then were much larger than today's numbers.
