US Judge Again Blocks Trump's Mail-Voting Order for Two Weeks

A US federal judge again blocked President Trump's mail-voting order. The order aimed to limit mail voting in November's midterm elections.

The judge blocked the order Thursday night. This new block will last two weeks.

The judge also stopped the Postal Service from adding new mail-voting restrictions. This came after reviewing the Postal Service's plan to follow Trump's demands.

The ruling arrived about a week before mail ballots were due. An appeal is expected.

The case follows a Supreme Court procedural ruling. It also follows a Postal Service rule to enforce Trump's order.

Two dozen states and the District of Columbia sued to stop that rule. The new block stops the order and related restrictions while it lasts. But it does not block them for the whole midterm election period.

Klear Note — Mail voting lets eligible voters cast ballots without visiting polling places. Midterm elections happen halfway through a president’s four-year term.
