US Judge Blocks Trump's $1.8 Billion Fund

A US judge has blocked Trump's Anti-Weaponization Fund. The fund was worth $1.8 billion.

Judge Leonie Brinkema issued a two-page order on Friday. It stopped the Department of Justice from setting up or running the fund.

The fund came from a settlement after Trump sued the IRS. That lawsuit was over a leak of his tax records.

The fund was meant to pay people Trump sees as victims of "lawfare" by Joe Biden's government. It could also pay allies of Trump.

A prosecutor from the January 6 cases filed a lawsuit against the fund. That lawsuit led the judge to halt it.

The Trump government cannot now move money into the fund or pay it out. This block is temporary for now.

A hearing is set for June 12 to decide on a longer block. Both Democrats and Republicans criticized the fund. Critics called it a "slush fund."
